Have you ever just glanced at someone’s abs and thought “Wow?” Of all the muscles to grow, abs are probably the sexiest. Who doesn’t love a chocolate bar or a six pack? The thing with your midriff is that if you stop showing it some love then it will give up on you. Find out what the best exercises are to keep the muffin top at bay.
Hanging Sit Ups
Find something that you can hang off of upside down (parallel bars, a swing, your boyfriend) and start crunching. At first you’ll feel like a champ because you won’t feel anything in your abs but we bet that after 5 reps you’ll be cursing the day you ever heard of hanging sit ups.
Knee Raises/Leg Raises
Hang on your pull up bar and start by tucking your knees to your chest and then returning to neutral spine. If you don’t feel anything while you’re doing this then go ahead and stick your legs out straight and raise your toes to your head. You’ll thank us later for this one.
Get your hands on some parallel bars or some canes and get into the frog pose. This is where your knees press into your elbow and you lift your whole body weight off of the floor. If you don’t have any parallel bars or canes handy then go ahead and do this off of the floor. Hold the frog pose for at least a minute.
As much as we hate to admit it, these exercises are only 20% of the battle. If you want to get rid of the potential muffin top and trade it in for a six pack then you have to be ready to commit to a very strict diet. Veggies, veggies and more veggies with protein and good carbs on the side. If you already exercise a lot and can’t seem to tone up the way you want to then it might be time to look at your diet.
